The change that is not about audio quality
Every previous Suno generation was a model release. v6 is also a licensing event: Suno describes it as the first generation developed with music rightsholders, and names Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe as partners. Suno has also said tracks made with the industry-partner model become eligible for distribution through Believe and TuneCore.
If you are comparing v5 and v6 purely on how the output sounds, this row will not show up in your test. It is still likely to be the difference that matters most to anyone who intends to release the result commercially, because it changes the provenance story rather than the waveform.
Worth separating two things that get conflated: distribution eligibility through a named partner is not the same as the commercial-use terms attached to your Suno tier. Check the terms of the tier you are actually on before you plan a release around it.
If you are building, not just listening
One distinction changes how this comparison applies to software: every capability above landed in the Suno app, and Suno still publishes no API of its own. The models are a different matter — MusicAPI has served all three v6 models since 9 September 2026 as sonic-v6, sonic-v6-wild and sonic-v6-mini. So a v6-vs-v5 decision is now a decision about which model string to send — not only about which Suno subscription to hold.
